Posted on July 14th, 2017

An evacuation order was issued in Daviess County after a truck carrying explosives caught fire near Cannelburg.

The Sheriff’s office says it happened around 11:30 a.m. Thursday at a mine south of Old US Highway 50 and west of County Road 800 E. Residents in a one-mile radius near the mine were evacuated as a precautionary measure.

Authorities say the truck was hauling fuel and fertilizer that the mine mixes to make explosives. The fire was limited to the truck cab.
