VPD Receives DNR Rehab Grant

Posted on October 12th, 2017

The Vincennes Police Department has received a grant through the Department of Natural Resources to assess rehabilitation of their Headquarters.

The $24,500 grant award is made possible through funding provided by the National Parks Service. The police department is located in the former U.S. Post Office at 5th and Busseron Streets. It was built in 1907 and expanded in 1936. The city purchased the building in 2000 and the police department has occupied it since then.

The city was previously awarded funding through a similar historical grant to replace windows in the building and repair the limestone around the outside of the building.
