Chamber Announces Servant, Educator of the Year

A member of the Knox County Sheriff’s Department will receive the Public Servant of the Year Award during the Knox County Chamber of Commerce’s banquet later this month.

Deputy Doug Roberts is being recognized for his efforts in saving the lives of three individuals during a residential fire in vincennes on December 31st. The Public Servant of the Year Award recognizes those who protect the wellness of the community by going beyond what is expected of them.

The Chamber has also announced the inaugural winner of their Educator of the Year Award. Steve Toy will be presented the award because of his dedication to his education profession through his innovative teaching practices. Toy serves as a teacher and English Department Chair at Vincennes Lincoln. He also serves as an instructional coach for many new teachers.

Roberts and Toy will be recognized at the Chamber’s annual awards dinner on Thursday, April 26 at Vincennes University’s Green Activities Center.
