The South Knox School Corporation’s SPARTA 2018 project took a big step forward last night.
The Vincennes Sun Commercial reports that the School Board awarded over $13 million for projects to improve both the middle/high school and elementary school.
Initially, bids for the work at the elementary school, which will include eight-thousand additional square feet for a band room, a multi-purpose room and two new pre-k rooms, came in over budget. Thankfully, for the school corporation, work at the middle and high school came in under budget, evening things out. Work at the middle and high school will include turning the current cafeteria into administrative offices with a new and bigger cafeteria added to the back of the 50-year-old building.
A groundbreaking is set for 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at the middle/high school.
