 Happy Days Auditions Extended!
Teens and young adults who love to sing and dance are invited to audition for HAPPY DAYS: A New Musical on Thursday, May 17, and Monday, May 21, at 6:00 p.m. EDT, at the Old Town Players community theatre on Broadway at Fifth Street in Vincennes.

Desired ages are from 15 to early 20s. Specific parts being cast include the primary roles of Ralph and Chachi, as well as the character roles of Elvis and James Dean. There is a small, non-singing role, Bully, available for a male. The role of a female Car Hop is also available and requires good singing and dancing ability.

Persons interested in singing parts should prepare a vocal solo and bring an accompaniment CD without vocals or sing a capella. There will be a dance audition so appropriate clothing/shoes should be worn. In addition, there will be brief readings from the script.

Spirit of ’76 Award

 The Vincennes Fourth of July Committee is seeking nominations for the 38th

annual “Spirit of ’76 Award”.  Persons wishing to nominate an individual for the annual award should submit a biography of the person to:  Vincennes Fourth of July Committee, “Spirit of ‘76 Award”, 201 Vigo Street, Vincennes, IN  47591.

  Nominations must be received by 4 p.m. June 8, 2012. 

 The award is given to a Knox County resident who helps make his or her community a better place to live through their involvement.  This includes the gifts of time, talent, energy and resources without the benefit of monetary reward.  Letters of nomination should include biographical data on the individual and examples of how this individual meets the criteria for the award.

 

THE  5TH ANNUAL TASTE OF BROWN COUNTY

NASHVILLE, IN – From a remarkable fourteen year-old harmonica player, to the blues, funk, classic rock, and a country-styled cover band, this year’s Taste of Brown County will give you your fill on delicious food samples AND great music. Benefit for Tiffany Wilson Dashiell

There will be a Breast Cancer Benefit for Tiffany Wilson Dashiell at the Moose Lodge, 904 S. 17th, Vincennes on May 26th. Doors open at 5pm with the dinner at 5:30pm and the Auction at 7pm. A DJ will follow the Auction.  Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for kids. Those 3 and under will be admitted free. Cash donations are also being accepted at Regions Bank in a special account for Tiffany Dashiell.

Vincennes Youth Tennis Program to offer instruction for those age 5-11th grade

Vincennes University Tennis Coach Ron Albers has announced that the Vincennes Youth Tennis Program will be conducted again this summer at the VU Tennis Courts on the campus.

The program is offered to all students between five years old and the 11th grade, regardless of tennis or athletic ability or background. The program is ideal for any youngster interested in learning the game or taking their game to the next level, Albers said.

 The tennis clinic will be May 29-June 1 and June 4-7 (Friday, June 8, and Monday, June 11, will be makeup dates, if necessary). Call 812-888-4474 for daily clinic status in the event of inclement weather.

2012 Indiana State Police Summer Youth Camps

 The 2012 Indiana State Police summer youth camps will soon be in session. Are you looking for something a little different to do this summer? The Indiana State Police summer youth camps are for students entering grades 5 through 12. Students annually interact with peers who have expressed common interests in law enforcement. Campers learn teamwork skills while gaining self-confidence. The Indiana State Police camps and programs teach students that discipline is a pre-requisite in gaining self-respect, and self-respect is the first step in gaining the respect of others.
