A new position within the county took another step towards becoming a reality this morning.
The Knox County Commissioners have passed, on first reading, an ordinance creating the position of Code Compliance Officer.
The job of Code Compliance Officer would primarily focus on citing area residents for unsightly properties and looking into the illegal dumping of trash throughout the county. As the job application states, the Code Compliance Officer would be an independent contractor with no benefits and must be able to provide their own transportation. If training and tools can be acquired, this role may also eventually expand to include some animal control as well.
Applications will be available at the Auditor’s Office. The deadline for submitting applications will be December 18th at 4:00 p.m. County Attorney Yvette Kirchoff said she would like the position to start at the beginning of January.
